We are based in Pwllheli which is the unofficial capital of
The Llyn
Peninsula, in Northwest Wales. Much of The Llyn Peninsula is
an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Pwllheli is an ideal base to
explore this
area by sea or land.
Pwllheli is about 3 hours drive in a car from Manchester, Birmingham,
Swansea or Stoke On Trent and is easy accessible by the A55 coast
road. If
travelling by bus or train we are 5 minutes walk from the bus
and railway
stations.
Our new marina is the best in Wales, with 24 hour access and
all the
services boaters need. The marina berths over 400 boats and there
is space
for visitors to moor up overnight. The marina has brought many
more boaters
to Pwllheli and helped other aspects of tourism in the area.
Pwllheli has two beaches. South Beach, which is mainly shingle,
has been
awarded the Blue Flag Award for clean sands and waters. South
Beach
stretches from Gimblet Rock, across the promenade, and around
towards
Llanbedrog.
Abersoch, 7 miles away is one of Wales’ top
sailing venues. Porthmadog is 14
miles to the east of Pwllheli and is truly the gateway to Llyn,
and has a
picturesque harbour.
The Llyn Peninsula is very different to the
rest of Wales, the weather is
often different (usually better!) and so is the landscape. Much
of Llyn is
rolling countryside, rising up to the occasional volcanic peak – needless
to
say that these are all now extinct.
We are based in the Harbour Masters building
which is located on the South
side of Pwllheli Harbour adjacent to the harbour and the best
all state of
tide slipway in the North West. Car Parking is free and is to
the side of
our office by the fisherman’s compounds.
We run courses from many different locations in
North Wales, so don’t be put off if you keep your
boat at a particular place, well come to you.
Directions: From the A499 or A497, enter
Pwllheli, and take signs for Abersoch.
Directly after Co-op
and Train Station, take the first exit (left) at the mini
roundabout onto Embankment Road. Carry on along this road
for approx ¾ mile (you will pass the Inner Harbour on your
left). At the mini roundabout, take the first left onto
Morfa Garreg. Continue through the housing estate. You will
pass Ian Russell Powerboats on your left. Take the first
left after Ian Russell Powerboats, and follow the road round
to the right. Please park by the compound on your left.
We are in the Harbour Masters Building, situated
next to the Quayside. Please enter using the door on the front
of the building, and proceed to the top of the stairs. Our classroom
is the First door on the Left.
You are welcome to join us 15 minutes before the
start of your course for Tea & Coffee
